Guiding you pupils towards a successful veterinary career

Do you work with school pupils who are passionate about animals and considering a career as a vet? We understand that navigating that path can be overwhelming for people but there is lots of help available on this website, including from Universities and from the Vet Schools Council.

We want to help you guide them on their journey and equip them with the knowledge and resources necessary for a successful veterinary career.

You have a really important role to play in helping to address the current shortages in the Scottish veterinary profession. If we don’t do something, there won’t be enough vets to look after the Scotland’s beloved pets and the country’s farming livestock so this could ultimately affect all of us who have companion animals or who consume Scottish meat, eggs, milk and other dairy products.

We want you to work with us, to make sure every Scottish school pupil can access the information they need to consider veterinary careers.  We will keep you up to date with the routes into veterinary including the academic subjects and grades needed plus any additional requirements.

We have three vet schools in Scotland and each year, in August, we will invite you to visit the facilities in one of them so you can see what being a Scottish vet student is all about.
